We are so happy that The Glendon is becoming your new home. Los Angeles has so many great restaurants and activities for you to enjoy during your days off of work. Whether you take a stroll on the beach or a run through our many parks, Los Angeles will become your new home within a few weeks. However, before you explore outside, it is time to get your place furnished inside. You may be worried that it will be hard to find furniture, but Los Angeles has so many great shops that all of your design dreams can come true. 

Do you need some design inspiration? We recommend starting off at Pottery Barn. Pottery Barn is a little less than three miles away from your home at The Glendon. Their unique and creative furnishings will give you an idea of what you want your home to look like. Do you want more of a modern or classical feel? One day in Pottery Barn will give you the direction you need to start furnishing your home.

Now that you have your design scheme, head to Pampa Furniture on W Pico Blvd. This upscale shop has home furnishings and decor for your new apartment. They have small and large pieces for your living room, dining room and bedroom. You can head to their website to see what they have in store before you buy. With their one-of-a-kind pieces, you may find a perfect centerpiece for your living room or bedroom at this local store.

Now that you have your big pieces, head to Bed Bath and Beyond on West Olympic Blvd to get your bedroom and bathroom supplies. It is a short 12 minute drive from your home at The Glendon. This store has so many colors and patterns to choose from, it will be easy to find one that matches your design scheme. They even have home appliances that you may have forgotten to bring or pack with you. Check out their website for the great deals they have every day.

St. Patrick's Day in LA

Get your green on. St. Patrick’s Day is coming up and we cannot wait to celebrate. Even if you are not Irish, you can still celebrate with your friends at many events in the Los Angeles area. Los Angeles knows how to party, and we have found some great events throughout the next week. So go find your green shirt and beads, you are going to have a great time!

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The St. Patrick’s Day parade is an event that everyone looks forward to all year. Green is everywhere as we see some of our favorite local floats and celebrities ride through South Bay. The St. Patrick’s Day parade will be held on March 12th this year. It is only an hour from your home at The Glendon. The parade starts around 11 am and features local officials, Irish dancers and more. 

St. Patrick’s Day Festival

Casey's St. Patrick's Day Street Festival in Downtown LA is from 6am to 2am on March 17th. This festival features food, drinks and games all day long. It is even free admission before 3:30pm. This event will be held at 613 South Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA with an entrance at Wilshire and Hope.

St. Patrick’s Day Block Party

Rock & Reilly's St. Paddy's Day Block Party will be held this year on March 12th from 1-10pm. The party benefits Pencils of Promise. You can hang out hear DJ’s, enjoy food trucks and enjoy 8 bars with 100 kegs of green beer. The party is held in the back lot behind Rock & Reilly’s in West Hollywood. Make sure to get there early because entrance availability is subject to capacity. 

Irish Bars

If you want to get your Irish on at a local bar, Los Angeles has a few to choose from. You can always go to Finn McCool’s. You can listen to their Irish bands while enjoying Irish food and drinks all day long.

Unplug For A Day

Today’s fast paced society can be draining. Being on the go all the time can make you forget the time before you were busy nonstop. With our faces constantly buried in our phones, tablets and laptops both at work and at home, it can distract us from the real world. Even though our phones are great connectors and open up a whole new world to us, sometimes there’s nothing that beats good old face-to-face communication and alone time. In honor of the Day of Unplugging, take a day or even just a few hours to unplug from your electronics and live in the moment.

The weather in Los Angeles is almost always beautiful, so it’s okay to spend tons of time outside. Luckily, at The Glendon, we have an edgeless infinity pool and sundeck. Relaxing in the rooftop area in the pool with your pals is a great way to be social without having to be attached to your phone. If all of your friends are already with you, you don’t need to stare at your phone! Hopefully, this spring and summer will give you plenty of opportunities to enjoy the edgeless infinity pool and sundeck!

One of the best ways to avoid the draw of your phone is to occupy yourself. Strike out into the city for an event! If you’re enjoying yourself and keeping busy, you’ll forget all about your phone and enjoy yourself even further. March is one of the best months to live in Los Angeles. You can experience Old Pasadena Happy Hour Week. All of your favorite happy hour specials extended through a week instead of a few hours. You can distract yourself from your phone while indulging in over drinks and appetizers from your favorite restaurants.

Another great way to remove yourself from the burden of technology is to take yourself outdoors! Spending time outdoors is never a waste of time. There are tons of lovely local parks in Los Angeles to enjoy. Enjoy a day with the animals at the Los Angeles Zoo. Lately, most people at zoos are trying to get the perfect selfie with a lion. However, take this opportunity to really just watch the animals without looking through your phone.

Enjoy your Day of Unplugging with some distractions to keep your mind off of the fact that your phone isn’t in front of your face.

Celebrate Chili Day

Yum! We love a good chili. From a great traditional chili to a five-alarm bowl at a chili cook-off, you can never have enough of this great dish. Did you know that February 24th is National Chili Day? This is the perfect day to make your own traditional chili, or you can get out and explore some of the great restaurants with chili in Los Angeles. We hope you and your stomach have a great National Chili Day.

The Inkster in Eagle Rock is the perfect place for you to start with your National Chili Day celebration. They offer a variety of burgers and other sandwiches, but we are coming here for their delicious chili. They have chili fries made with Belgian fries, thousand island dressing, caramelized onions and shredded cheddar cheese. You can also try their chili bowl or chili burger.

If you are looking for something a little more classic, you have the perfect choice in Carney’s on Sunset Boulevard. This is an iconic landmark in LA for many years. This restaurant is built out of an old Pacific Railroad passenger train car. Their chili is traditional, but you can add it to pretty much anything on the menu. This is also the perfect place to go for the 2am chili cheese fry snack you are craving. 

The Addiction Bistro knows their chili. They participated in the Malibu Chili Cook-Off in 2008 and took home two awards for six different chilies. This bistro was opened because of that Chili Cook-off weekend. You can taste over 20 homemade chili recipes, including an entire menu dedicated to vegans and vegetarians. There is something for everyone at this massive chili establishment. 

Pink’s in Los Angeles may look like an old time diner, but this delicious hot dog stand has some of the best chili dogs in Los Angeles. They have been open for over 60 years selling their giant variety of chili dogs to the LA area.

Groupon has great deals on hotels, but they also have great deals on vacation packages. Maybe you have a few more vacation days and a little extra money to spend. You can head to the Tropical Princess Beach Resort & Spa with airfare for as little as $599 a person. This all-inclusive resort has many days to choose from. However, these specials always sell out fast, so make sure to check everyday to find the best trip for you.

The Emerald City

No, we are not suggesting you head to Oz for your next trip. However, a quick trip to Seattle sounds perfect. Expedia has some great bundle deals to really any city you can imagine, but we thought visiting Seattle for a weekend would be a relaxing trip. You can find a bundle deal for flight and a three night stay at the Sheraton in Seattle for only $532 a person.
